The Importance of Reading Together

Reading with your child is not only an enjoyable activity, but it helps develop important literacy skills.  ABC Life Literacy Canada (ABC Life Literacy), provides this information about reading with your child:

"Reading to children more than once a day has a substantial positive impact on their future academic skills.  In addition, research indicates children with early exposure to books and reading are better at performing mathematical tasks."

"Having a parent or other caring person read aloud with their children helps children learn listening skills, vocabulary and language skills, as well as develop imagination and creativity."

Library Schedule

Our library is currently closed to students, however Mrs. Goronovsky has been regularly visiting kindergarten and primary classrooms to inspire a love of reading by sharing books with the students.  Students in grades 4-8 regularly have the opportunity to select a book during travelling library visits.  Grade 4-8 students enjoy their library books during independent reading opportunities in the classroom.
