The Importance of Reading Together
Reading with your child is not only an enjoyable activity, but it helps develop important literacy skills. ABC Life Literacy Canada (ABC Life Literacy), provides this information about reading with your child:
"Reading to children more than once a day has a substantial positive impact on their future academic skills. In addition, research indicates children with early exposure to books and reading are better at performing mathematical tasks."
"Having a parent or other caring person read aloud with their children helps children learn listening skills, vocabulary and language skills, as well as develop imagination and creativity."
Library Schedule
Our library is open to students. Students in kindergarten to grade 3 visit the library every two weeks to enjoy a read aloud and choose a book to check out. Students in grades 4-8 regularly have the opportunity to select a book during book exchange times scheduled by their teachers.
